Our programs will focus on an area of business each month:
- Strategy and planning
- Marketing and sales
- Production and distribution
Preparation for Financing
We are supporting our participants with as much help as we can through the development of a financing toolkit. Part of our program also provides some guidance around “pitching” and preparing the right materials to work with your banker or financier.
Each of the sessions will have sector-specific focus, on the aspects that make most sense to them. The training will be delivered in various formats:
Online recorded webinars from Small Business BC (include link here); allow us to provide quality training. We use these in a “flipped classroom” model. The entrepreneurs watch the webinar and will be provided with some worksheets or activities that ensure they are able to apply their learning to their enterprise.
Workshops provide an opportunity for discussion about the content of the webinar and how it relates to their enterprise.
Panels allow us to have discussion with local experts on a topic or element. We tailor these to the focus of a particular 4-month session, and can adapt to suit the needs of the group. We also poll the group in advance to find out what they need to know. This provides a more customized, focused discussion.
Our vision of mentoring is a model that combines coaching and mentoring. Our mentors typically have experience running an enterprise in the same industry as our entrepreneurs. However, their role is not to direct or advise, but to listen and support. They won’t tell our entrepreneurs what to do, but provide their perspective and encourage independent thinking.
A “workbook” that helps participants apply their learning to their own enterprise. The workbook is a companion to the training.
